Chief Officers of the council are already subject to certain rules and obligations such as those defined by law or prescribed in their Conditions of Employment, the Council’s Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and Contract Standing Orders.
They may also be subject to certain obligations of a professional organisation to which they belong as a necessary or appropriate part of their employment.
This Chief Officers code of conduct explains the standards expected and is not intended in any way as a substitute for such rules or obligations but rather to supplement them.
The provisions of this Code apply to Chief Officers of the council i.e. Chief Executive, Executive Directors and to Heads of Service and the term “Chief Officer” throughout this document shall be taken as applying to all.
