Continuous Service with North Lanarkshire Council
Your continuous service required to qualify for statutory employment protection rights, such as unfair dismissal and written reasons for dismissal, and for statutory entitlements and notice dates from your start date with NLC.
Continuous Service with other Local Government Organisations
Service for the purpose of calculating entitlement to redundancy, occupational sickness and occupational maternity payments and annual leave includes all continuous service with any employer contained within the Redundancy Payments (Continuity of Employment Government etc. Modification Order 1999 as amended and noted below. Your service for this purpose if it applies is noted in your contract of employment. This is the continuous service date with organisations detailed in the redundancy modification order.
Other continuous service
For the purpose of calculating annual leave only, continuous service with the Health Board, Civil Service, Registered Social Landlords, Communities Scotland as well as Public Private Partnerships where employees have transferred from North Lanarkshire Council to the Partnerships and have re-appointed to posts within the Council without a break in service are also included. Your service for this purpose if it applies is noted in your contract of employment.

Redundancy Payments or Receipt of Local Government Pension
If you have received a redundancy payment in the past, or are in receipt of a Local Government Pension from any employer detailed within the Modification Order including North Lanarkshire Council, you must disclose this information to the Council as it impacts on your service calculation.
If you are an employee who holds multi-posts with North Lanarkshire Council, and you are made redundant from any of your posts, the service applied to calculate your redundancy payment will be based on the specific contract that is being terminated.
