We recognise that alcohol and drug-related problems are matters of health and social concern. Employees struggling in this area need help and treatment.

We will not accept people misusing alcohol or drugs. This councils Alcohol and Drugs policy provides practical measures to deal with alcohol and drug misuse. This applies equally to solvent misuse.

As well as guidance for managers on how to support employees who have reported a problem with alcohol or drug dependence the policy also contains sets out the arrangements for alcohol and drug testing on a “with cause” basis. A guidance on the process for alcohol and drug testing is available below as well as additional guides for managers and employees on what to expect when testing is carried out.
