The Equalities centre of expertise provides specific specialist advice, training and professional guidance in relation to the Public Sector Equality and Fairer Scotland Duties.
This involves working directly and in collaboration with colleagues across the Council including Service Managers, Chief Officers (including Community/Equality Champions), Trade Unions and Elected Members.
Through its support to the Council’s Equality Board, the Employee Equality Forum and involvement in several Council working groups, the Equalities Team is involved in a wide range of projects and initiatives that support the delivery of accessible services and support to and for a diverse workforce.
Externally the team works closely with our Community Partnership Team, Community Planning Partners and community organisations to advance equality and foster good relations across the communities of North Lanarkshire.
