For local government employees (exc. teachers & associated professionals), the following applies::

All new recruits will be placed on the first point of the scale. However, if they are currently in paid employment with relevant experience, they may be salary matched following discussion with the recruiting manager and HR Business Partner.

There may be other reasons for placement above the first point on the scale however these will be by exception and determined on a case by case basis.

You will receive an increment on 1 April, provided you have 6 months in the grade and you are not at the top of the scale and your conduct has been deemed satisfactory.

If your start date is between 1 October and 31 March, you will be entitled to an increment six months from that date. In subsequent years, increments, if appropriate, will be paid on 1 April.

The Council reserves the right to withhold one or more annual increments in the event of unsatisfactory performance.

For teachers & associated professionals, the following applies::

All newly qualified teachers will be placed on point 0 of the salary scale. Once they have completed their probationary year and obtained their full GTC registration, they will move to point 1 of the salary scale.
