Pay

How does a supply teacher submit their time worked on mySelf?

Employee’s must submit pay claims through their mySelf account. An infographic demonstrating the process can be downloaded here.

Check against the pay deadlines to ensure the claim was submitted in time. You can access the most up to date pay deadlines here.

Recruitment

I am due to start a new post with NLC, how can I find out my start date?

How do I apply for a job with NLC?

You can find internal vacancies via mySelf under Web Recruitment, this will allow internal applicants to search and apply for jobs. For external candidates, to find roles within NLC they can visit myjobscotland. More information regarding the recruitment process can be found here.

Leavers & Retirement

What is the notice period a teacher must give when resigning from their position?

For Unpromoted and Associated Professionals 4 working weeks’ notice is required.

For promoted posts an 8-week period of which 4 must be working weeks are required.

I have multiple jobs with NLC and wish to resign from only one, how do I do it?

All NLC employees now submit their resignations through mySelf, information on resignation. Information on resignation for Teachers & Associated Professionals can be found here.

When logged into mySelf click on the face icon to view your profile. At the top of the screen select ‘Employment’. Click on the post you wish to resign from to view information about the post. At the bottom of this page there is a ‘Resignation notification’ complete this. Please note if you have multiples posts and wish to resign from them all, click the box beside ‘Resign from all positions’ .

How does a teacher hand in their resignation notice?

Who do I inform about a death in service?

The People Operations team should be notified to prevent any overpayment of salary and Employment and Policy can be contacted for further guidance.

How many days is maternity leave is a teacher entitled to?

Employee Change Forms

What is an employee change form?

Employee Change Forms have been developed as a replacement of the Notification of Change Form.

How do I notify the Employee Service Centre of a change?

Misc.

What am I entitled to if my personal property is damaged?

Who can Buy and Bank Leave?

Unfortunately for now teachers and associated professionals are unable to Buy or Bank Leave.

Single Status staff within educational establishments can Buy Leave, however due to the nature of holidays cannot Bank Leave.

How do I cancel Union payments?

In the first instance the employee should contact the Union directly.

Once they have done this, they should email ESC-HelpDeskTeam@northlan.gov.uk to inform ESC of the change.
